As reported by the New York Post, The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy posted a video of Greg Skomal, a biologist with the sate Division of Marine Fisheries, having an extremely close call with a large great white shark off the coast of Massachusetts. While attempting to tag the great white, the shark leaped out of the water, coming within inches of Skomal’s feet. Luckily, he happened to be just out of reach for the shark.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy stated, “While out on research trips, we’ve seen white sharks breach and we’ve received multiple reports of breaching white sharks this year from fishermen and boaters. While encounters like this one are rare, this video shows that they’re certainly possible.

“White sharks are wild and unpredictable animals. This is a good reminder of the importance of not becoming complacent and always staying vigilant when in or on the water.”
