If anyone can convince us to wake up early and go for a run, it's the powerhouse that is six-time surfing world champion Stephanie Gilmore. And she'll be doing just that when Roxy brings their #RunSUPYoga event series back to their home base in Huntington Beach, California, on Aug. 22.
"My fitness has always had a beauty of balance," Gilmore — who won her first world title as a rookie and followed with five titles in as many attempts — said in a press release. "Getting your heart rate up, using whole body strength, stretching and changing up the environment, but on top of everything having fun."
The event — hosted by Gilmore and other members of the Roxy surf team — celebrates the brand's 25th anniversary and long history as an advocate for women in action sports with a slightly untraditional triathlon format: a 1K stand-up paddleboard race, a 5K run on the beach and bike trail and a 45-minute cool-down beach yoga session at Huntington State Beach.
The event starts at 8 a.m. and attendees will score a limited-edition hat, bag and yoga mat.
The women-only fitness event global tour is set to hit France, Germany and Australia later this year. Sign up is underway for the Aug. 22 event at Roxy.com.
