Mountain towns are usually where we go to escape the summer heat, but that’s not always the case along the Wasatch Front. The 4th of July week in Ogden, Utah coincided with a triple-digit heat wave this year. The idea for the slip and slide party, however, was born weeks earlier, on a cooler night, during a minor league baseball game. When the temperatures spiked leading up to the holiday weekend, it became apparent that a slip-and-slide shindig on July 3 was the right call. Constructing it properly required several yards of plastic, wood railings, and nine bags of mulch (to create the pool at the end, and have a second life in the garden after the party). A hose and the sprinkler system completed the project. Here, the party host hops on the back of a friend to create an ambiguously great duo. Happy 4th!
