Professional ice climbers Klemen Premrl and Aljaz Anderle of Slovenia aborted an attempt to climb an iceberg in Greenland's Disko Bay when they felt something rumble under their feet. The iceberg began calving below them.
Wisely, the ice climbers made a hasty retreat, returned to their mothership, the La Louise, and continued searching for the perfect iceberg to summit.
"I am realizing there is no longevity for climbers that climb icebergs," Premrl says on the latest GoPro video series on YouTube. "Deep down I know I can't give up. This is my dream. I need to summit one of these."
Watch as Premrl and Anderle go for the summit on a different iceberg in the fourth edition of "HERO4: The Adventure of Life in 4K" series. This adrenaline-packed episode is called "To Climb an Iceberg":
The unpredictability of icebergs makes climbing them a potentially life or death proposition. Ice climbers Premrl and Anderle, with a bit of luck on their side, made it to the top of a perfect iceberg without incident.
“Thanks, GoPro, for bringing my dreams to reality!” Premrl wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
