Emage Boardshop, located in the heart of downtown Denver and right around the corner from the Denver Skate Park, sees sales split down the middle between its skate and snow hardgoods, says shop manager Will Frazier, who has been at the store for the past two yeares. The 3,000-square-foot space is one of the only core skate and snow shops in the neighborhood and gets a lot of foot traffic with its proximity to the main highway. The shop also draws a lot of traffic from those looking for footwear that isn’t available at other local shops, according to Frazier. Since Emage is one of the only retailers who carry Cons Skate and is also one of the largest Nike SB accounts in the region, footwear has been a staple at the shop. “Shoes is our main thing – It pays the rent,” says Frazier. Accessories is also becoming an increasingly successful category. “Oakley, Ray Ban, Electric – that stuff is all flying out the door,” he says. Find out what else is selling at this shop:
Emage prides itself on carrying a selection of footwear that can’t be found at surrounding retailers. “We just got a bunch of new Vans in, and a bunch of other limited lines,” says Frazier. The shop is also dropping the Nike SB Dunk Highs today (April 20th).
“Nike is probably doing the best right now, followed by Vans, then Cons and Addidas,” says Frazier.
SKU: PRod III
The Stefan Janoski, the Blazer and the Dunks are top sellers at the shop, but Frazier says the PRod III is selling more than any of those at the moment.
“Apparel is definitely killing it for us,” says Frazier. Vans RVCA, KR3W, and Altamont have been mainstays for Emage, along with some Volcom and Matix apparel. Lately the shop has brought in several new brands, including Comune, which Frazier says has been doing really well since the shop got the initial wave of product in January.
While Altamont is a best seller for Emage, Krew and RVCA aren’t too far behind, according to Frazier. RVCA also normally does really well, he says.
Knits, pants and tank tops are all selling well at Emage, but button-down wovens are in first place.
3. Skate Hardgoods
“Shop wood does better than anything ’cause the kids are all broke,” says Frazier. Emage also carries Girl, Chocolate, Alien Habitat, and Deluxe brands. Bones and Spitfire wheels are doing well, and Never Summer longboards have also been moving at the shop.
Brand: Anti Hero
Frazier says that Anti-Hero has been the top-selling board company at Emage for the last year and a half.
“Their whole set up,” says Frazier of what’s been selling.
