Smith Optics launches Life Beyond Walls

Building on the success of its three part, surf-specific video series in 2014, Smith Optics is launching a new series for 2015, titled Life Beyond Walls: Panama. Team Captain CJ Hobgood, along with Alex Smith and Brett Barley made a strike mission to Panama last January and it paid off with solid surf and great footage.

About Life Beyond Walls: At Smith, we are all about the journey. For 50 years, we've created innovative products and embarked on epic adventures, whether large or small, that amplified the thrill of human experience. This season, we're sharing these timeless stories from an insider's point of view to capture the action and personal interactions in the pursuit of fun beyond walls. The multi-sport webisode series, Life Beyond Walls,

will showcase the outdoor escapades of Smith skiers, snowboarders, surfers, climbers, mountain bikers, road bikers, kayakers and general enthusiasts.

Life Beyond Walls: Panama – After a grueling year on the WSL World Tour in 2014, Smith International team rider CJ Hobgood wanted to get away and press the reset button before another big year in 2015. Together, with fellow Smith Team Riders Brett Barley and Alex Smith, the three made an impromptu mid-winter strike mission to the Caribbean side of Panama for some of the punchy, tropical beach breaks. Life Beyond Walls

: Panama is a behind-the-scenes style edit that follows the three surfers from three diverse areas as they enjoy the simple life of surfing, eating, surfing, and sleeping for five days. The clip was filmed and edited by Jon Hetchkopf with accompanying photos by Mark Welsh. Take a look at more photography from the trip below:
