Slater joined Rip Curl over 13 years ago as team/promotions manager, where he progressed to lead the marketing efforts before eventually assuming his most recent role of SVP – sales, marketing, and technical products during that time span.
Slater’s drive, commitment, talent and passion, as well as mentorship from Kelly Gibson, have seen him successfully move up through the company in various senior roles.
“I am excited Dylan will be leading the Rip Curl brand in North America. From our leadership team, our internal crew, our retail crew and all of our sales crew I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished over the past 10 years," stated Kelly. "I strongly believe we have the best crew and culture in the surf industry. I am confident with Dylan’s leadership Rip Curl will be successful.”
Gibson has worked closely with Slater as part of his succession plan, which has prepared him well to take over the reigns as Gibson transitions to a non-executive member of the Rip Curl board.
Gibson has had many outstanding achievements as an executive during his 12-year tenure as North American CEO and leaves in place a highly capable and seasoned leadership team that will support Slater in Rip Curl North America's continued success. Over the next 12 months, Gibson will support Slater and the team in the transition.

Slater will be reporting directly to Rip Curl Group CEO Michael Daly, commencing October 1.
