On the second leg of our New England shop tour, Transworld Business set out due East until we reached the sunny shores along the gorgeous coast of New Hampshire, where winding Ocean Boulevard unveiled multi-million dollar seaside homes around every twist and turn. After a sign welcomed us to Jenness State Beach in the quaint community of Rye, we were greeted with the expansive blue Summer Sessions‘ bus, parked less than 20 feet from the ocean.
Owned and operated by brothers Tyler and Ryan McGill, Summer Sessions surf shop has been around since 2002, when the two opened its first location just down the street from where the today’s shop calls home. Positioned directly across from a popular family beach, Summer Sessions is just steps away from the sand and hosts surf camps and lessons daily throughout the summer months. Inside, on the retail floor, shoppers are greeted with a unique shopping experience: Not only can you get dialed in with a new surfboard, you can also grab a cold beverage, six pack, and snack from the mini mart that’s located within the store. The brothers even teamed up with Peak Organics to create their own brand of beer, which is sold in the cooler and at local bars and breweries. With that, Summer Sessions truly makes the beach experience a one stop shop.
Tyler McGill was holding things down when we stopped by and gave us the grand tour, chock full of rich history and the obvious passion that has become a business for the brothers at Summer Sessions.
