On Sept. 4, 2009, Boston-based Madavor Media, a privately held enthusiast publishing company, acquired the Foam brand from Airborne Media and effective immediately will publish the influential magazine and its Web sites foammagazine.com and action sports community pipergirls.com. This is Madavor’s second high-profile purchase in less than two months: America’s premier jazz magazine, JazzTimes, was acquired this summer and joins a portfolio of other market-leading sports and enthusiast titles, digital magazines, trade shows, and websites.
Foam (Fashion Ocean Art Music) is the nation’s foremost female publication dedicated to celebrating beach/surf culture and its positive influence on fashion, art, music, and action sports. Foam magazine captures the exciting essence of the trendsetting female lifestyle and presents it through various digital initiatives and targeted distribution programs, engaging its community of readers through events, the Internet, and print, making Foam an effective and smart marketing vehicle for brands connecting with young women.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to expand our portfolio with this industry-leading and quality publication,” says Jeffrey C. Wolk, chairman and CEO of Madavor Media. “Because of our experience and industry partnerships, we are well-positioned to serve this population, which encompasses beach/surf sports lifestyle while targeting a niche audience. In essence, that is our area of expertise — producing publications for targeted markets — and we are delighted with this new undertaking."
Foam magazine is in its fifth year of publication. It is distributed nationally on the newsstand and to subscribers and also digitally through foammagazine.com. “We are thrilled to be working with current staff members Monica Campana, Associate Publisher, and Kristina Dechter, Editor in Chief, along with other staff members, freelance writers, and photographers that have made Foam magazine one of the premier publications in the industry. We will continue to deliver the excitement that readers and advertisers expect from this publication,” says Madavor Media’s VP/Group Publisher Susan Fitzgerald. “With our immense experience in niche journalism, music, sports, and lifestyle photography, in addition to our circulation, distribution, production, and promotional expertise, Madavor plans to take the Foam brand to new heights.”
