Club Monaco: Makers Series Presents Katin USA

Orange County, Calif. (May 13, 2013) – Club Monaco has partnered with legendary surf-wear company Katin USA to create limited edition exclusive pieces for its latest installment in the Makers series, which highlights the special products made by Club Monaco partners.

This well-priced American-made summer collection ranges from swim trunks ($95) and beach shorts ($100) to hats ($45) to t-shirts ($40).

Launching in May, the Club Monaco x Katin collaboration will be carried exclusively in a dozen special Club Monaco men's shops and on the company's online store.

The Makers series is a special project launched in September 2012 as a way to highlight Club Monaco's ongoing creative partnerships from the likes of Rancourt & Co., Wood&Faulk and Terrapin Stationers.

Every month brings a new maker into focus with an exclusive behind-the-studio- look at their craft. These stories illustrate not only the creative process, but also celebrate craft in its purist form.




In the early 1950’s Nancy and Walter Katin were in the business of making canvas boat covers. It was upon request from local surfers that they made the first pair of custom canvas surf trunks. Word spread of their ability to withstand the demands of the sea and an industry was born. In 1976, Nancy initiated the annual Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge at the north side of Huntington Beach’s pier, a team event where amateur surfers can compete alongside the pros. Surf legends such as Kelly Slater and Tom Curren have won the Katin Pro/Am. In 1986, Nancy passed away leaving the company to Sato Hughes, her loyal seamstress. It is with the same mindset as the founders that Katin continues to provide trunks and clothing inspired by our heritage with an emphasis on quality product that are Made in the USA.
