John Underwood has been named to the US Ski & Snowboarding Association’s (USSA) Board of Trustees. Underwood has an accomplished list of credentials on and off the slopes.
Underwood, currently a Managing Director with Goldman Sachs San Francisco, was former director with Squaw Valley Ski Corp., and a founding member of Global Institute of Sustainability Board of Trustees. In addition to his duties with USSA, Underwood serves on the board of the Larkin Street Youth Service, and the Alumni Board of the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Before getting his MBA at Vanderbilt University, Underwood was a PSIA certified ski instructor at Vail Mountain. He joined Goldman & Sachs in 1998, and was named Managing Director in 2006.
“John Underwood brings a strategic business background to our Board,” said Bill Marolt, USSA President and CEO. “His passion for our sport and his dedication to future athletes makes him a key piece to the success of our organization.”
“I’m most excited about getting involved with the athletes and mentoring them throughout their careers” said Underwood. “Skiing has been very good to me and I’m anxious to give back.”
Underwood and his family live in Hillsborough, CA, and three of his four children race for Squaw Valley.
Underwood is a skier, but we will let that pass given he seems pretty fit for the position.
