SPOTS – SKATESPOTS – BMX

With the help of SoGeo and Ball Park Franks, TransWorld Media is bringing two mobile apps free to consumers. Both TransWorld SKATEboarding and TransWorld RIDEbmx have created apps to help the athletes find new places to ride. SPOTS apps, now available on mobile phones and online, are designed to allow people to upload new information and pictures describing spots for skateboarders and bmx riders to then search for and find. Retailers are also able to upload storefronts as spots so athletes can find the proper places to grab some gear.

Here’s the Press Release:

“Carlsbad, July 13, 2010 – Carlsbad, CA – TransWorld SKATEboarding and TransWorld Ride BMX launched their respective Spots Directories (skatespots.transworld.net and bmxspots.transworld.net) and mobile applications, courtesy of Ball Park Franks, whose investment has allowed these applications to be free to consumers.

The Spots Directory and mobile application, powered by SoGeo (see sogeocompany.com), was developed to give skaters and BMXers a way to virtually explore their surroundings, identify new skateboarding and riding spots, create and share spots with their community, and upload photos and videos associated with those spots.

“Considering that these sports revolve around spots, whether it’s a skatepark, a deserted pool in the hills, a handrail in a parking lot, or a set of dirt jumps in the woods, this directory becomes an invaluable tool for our audience to explore, find, and share new places to skate and ride,” says Business Development Manager Bruce Scott. “It’ll also be a great tool for the local shops – creating 'spots’ for their retail locations so local skaters and riders can easily find them.”

The mobile apps are compatible with Apple’s iPhone, iTouch, iPad devices and all Android devices. The TransWorld Spots iPhone and Android applications are currently available for free in the iTunes store and the Android marketplace. There will be continuous updates as features are developed and added, ensuring the platforms include the latest functionality.
