Dakine’s Peter Line and Scotty Conerly on The Sessions @ SIA
Dakine Snow Marketing Director Scotty Conerly and recently appointed Outerwear Design Director & legendary snowboarder Peter Line had a chance to relax in The Sessions lounge @ SIA, and give us an update on what’s new for the brand rolling into Winer 2015-16.
“They brought me on to take over their outerwear program because they felt it would be a change for the better, and I provided them with that—I hope. Seems like they’ve been stoked on it,” says Line. “Scotty’s been a big help with the whole launch this year.”
Conerly, who has been with Dakine for the better part of the past eight years, says he was excited about bringing Line on for several major reasons.
“When this first started and talks really got off the ground, for me it was just a pipe dream because I wanted to continue my contributions to snowboarding,” says Conerly. “Pete and I were aligned that way. He has a real Northwest aesthetic and we were searching for that—our outerwear program hadn’t found it’s traction. And Pete came in and saw where we needed to go. That direction has taken us to an incredible place and it’s really bled into the rest of the brand.”
Conerly went on to explain that Line’s new role is a perfect connection for the brand, since he’s a leading voice within snowboarding, with 25 years of professional riding under his belt and a strong influence when it comes to today’s athletes and retailers. Hear more from Line and Conerly on what’s in store for the future.
