Surf Expo’s Bangers For Bucks skate contest is back and it’s time to pick the two fan favorite skate shop teams. The Bangers For Bucks competition is held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida during Surf Expo, January 6-8, 2011.
Nine skate shop teams will compete on a custom Team Pain street course for $15,000 in cash and store merchandise. The event is sponsored by Skullcandy, Vans, and Eastern Skate Supply.
“It’s fantastic to be see the growth of Bangers For Bucks at Surf Expo,” says Martin Ramos, contest manager and Owner of Kona Skatepark. “The level of skating is through the roof. Based on what I saw at the qualifying events, you can expect one hell of a show.”
Last year’s winner, Progressive Skatepark from Canton, Georgia was automatically chosen for this years contest, and six other spots were picked through three Top Shop qualifiers held around the country. At the May 25, 2010 qualifier, 3rd Lair from Golden Valley, Minnesota and Blacklist from Lawrenceburg, Indiana each won a spot at the Bangers For Bucks contest. Midtown Skatepark from Orlando Florida and Bluetile Skateshop from Columbia, South Carolina both earned spots at the October qualifier, and two more shops will be picked at the November 5, 2010 final Top Shop qualifier.
The last two spots in the contest are to be picked through Surf Expo’s “Fan Favorite” voting on surfexpo.com. Shops can register team information and video on surfexpo.com, where they will have their own profile page, until midnight November 4, 2010. Voting is open November 8, 2010 until midnight November 22, 2010, and you can vote as often as you like.
