2014 Swim Showroom Comes to Life This Weekend At Surf Expo
Friday kicks off the first day of Surf Expo here in Orlando, and TransWorld Business has partnered with Surf Expo to bring our Summer Swimwear Showroom to life during two major events on the show floor and at the Peabody Hotel. Taking a piece of the Salton Sea along with us from the photo shoot, TransWorld Business will showcase many of the major swimwear brands on stage at a special fashion show on the Surf Expo floor Saturday, September 7, at 4 p.m., as well as at The Peabody Orlando Hotel Friday, September 6, at 6:30 p.m. Free admission is offered to all Surf Expo attendees. The Salton Sea & Our 2014 Swimwear Showroom
Words: Kailee Bradstreet
TransWorld Business braved the 104 degree heat in June, making the trek out to the Salton Sea, a strangely desolate, desert-like body of water, which is actually an unusually salty, massive lake located 200 feet below sea-level and smack in the middle of nowhere. Those who have been to Coachella understand.
The juxtaposition between high fashion swimwear and the beautifully barren solitude we found in Southern California’s Imperial and Coachella valleys was the perfect theme for our annual summer showroom. The issue’s pages came to life with help from Surf Expo, the lovely ladies at BikiniBird, Aly Lopez and Tiana Becker, photographer Taylor Dunfee, and our gorgeous models who endured unearthly temperatures and one hell of a long day in the sun, yet still remained flawless throughout.
The day came to an end with the entire crew making one last stop at the Salton Sea’s local bar--which led to a less-than-brief history lesson about the region from the bar’s owner, a native who had lived in the area for most of his life. While it may seem absurd, and almost impossible, to sustain life in such stark conditions, the bartender assured us that the Salton Sea was teeming with life under the surface. We found the message fitting for the latest issue of our magazine, which takes a deeper look at the State of Skate, the Past, Present, and Future of Tradeshows, and “The Year of the Acqusition.”
If you haven’t already had a chance to peruse it’s pages, grab a copy at the upcoming Agenda tradeshow, and don’t miss our swimwear fashion show at Surf Expo, September 6-8, where the pages of our showroom will come alive on the show floor and at The Peabody.
