When surf edits mute the sea sounds and pump up the pseudo-punk or gliding electro tunes over footage, something is lost. In all the polishing, smoothing and cinematographic magic, we lose the familiar audio and raw sights that — in real life — have us jonesing on the sand and itching to get out into the water.

Thankfully, unfiltered, choppy, messy and raw videos are still getting out there into the ether, and from the best parts of the world no less.

RedBull just released this video compilation of some of the best and rawest rides this year (so far) at Teahupoo. It’s raw, unpolished and comes with a soundtrack courtesy of the waves.
