“He’s that rare breed of surf photographer, the type that is crazy enough to put himself in places and situations where the other 99.9 percent wouldn’t dare,” Pete Taras of SURFING wrote.
John Caruso, vice president of men's design at Gap agreed.
“The Bielmanns capture the spirit of surfing like no other photographer,” Caruso told Women’s Wear Daily. “Whether it’s the rush of catching the perfect wave or the peacefulness of being at one with the water, their images spark the kind of summer memories that we’re thrilled to celebrate in Gap’s collection of exclusive Ts.”
Brian has been a surf photographer for 35 years, working with pros like Kelly Slater, John Florence and Filipe Toledo.
He has never worked with a large apparel company and said he looks forward to growing his audience.
“The best part is seeing my photos viewed by a much larger audience and I think a T-shirt is a great way to make a statement,” Brian said. “Our surfing world is so small, comparatively, and there are a lot of people who don’t surf but still find the ocean fascinating, and that’s who I want to connect with.”
The shirts will be available May 23 and will retail for $29.95.
