Kobe Bryant plans to take up skiing and surfing

Bryant will retire this year and has no plans of slowing down

Basketball player Kobe Bryant will retire at the end of summer after a 20-year career in basketball.

Although the current Los Angeles Laker has no plans of slowing down. Instead, he plans to take up some new hobbies.

“I’m looking forward to skiing a little bit,” Bryant said in an interview on SiriusXM radio yesterday. “I've never been skiing before.”

That’s not the only action sport Bryant plans to try out.

He also said he’ll “do a little surfing, maybe. Maybe a little skydiving.”

While Bryant didn’t say he currently is contractually prohibited from skiing, surfing and skydiving, it’s not uncommon in the industry to ban athletes from partaking in hobbies that are injury-prone.

Many professional athletes are actually prohibited from risky sports, like skiing. According to the Washington Post, the NBA doesn’t allow players to skydive, wrestle or motorcycle, among other risky behaviors.

Bryant is a known fan of the beach. He currently owns a home in Orange County not far from the beach.

What’s not on the agenda for Bryant’s retirement?

Video Games. The 37-year-old said he doesn’t play them much since he doesn’t have the time.
