With 17-year-old Pedro Barros turning the highly anticipated bowl contest into a battle for second, the 2012 Vans Pro-Tec Pool Party transformed from a competition into a trip down skateboarding’s memory lane.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of his infamous Half Cab shoes, legend Steve Caballero returned from a broken collar bone to win the nostalgic Masters division. Cab sat on top of the podium consisting of fellow Bones Brigade members Tony Hawk and Lance Mountain.

If these guys weren’t feeling their age already, after a long day of skating the Vans Bowl in Orange, California, they were quickly reminded when contest organizers presented Hawk with a birthday cake complete with 44 candles.
