TMZ reported Monday that skateboarder Bam Margera had been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) on Sunday morning in California.

The report says that Margera was driving past California Highway Patrol officers when he slowed down to briefly speak to them. They detected the smell of alcohol and went through a field sobriety test. He was booked for DUI and was released at 2:30 p.m. under his own recognizance. He reportedly was in Los Angeles filming for a television show.

Margera had been doing well battling his demons as of late, focusing hard on getting his life in order and back into skateboarding shape. He also recently welcomed a son into the world, Phoenix Wolf, right before Christmas.

TMZ followed up later on Monday with a report in which they spoke to Bam’s mother April Margera. In it she reveals that Bam had been doing well dealing with his addiction for the last eight months, but fell off the wagon this weekend. She also told TMZ that Bam is open to rehab.
