Professional skateboarder Brian Anderson married his boyfriend Andrew in New York City on Wednesday, according to a post he put up on Instagram announcing the marriage.
Anderson, who came out as gay in an interview with Vice Sports earlier this year, had this to say in the post:
“Thanks to all who fought for the same sex marriage act in New York and everywhere else in the nation and world wide. We are very grateful! The world has a ways to go. Let’s keep pushing …”
According to TMZ, Anderson and Andrew met in 2015 and were engaged around the time that Anderson came out this fall.
Now 40, Anderson is a skateboarding legend in the biggest sense. Having won the “Skater of the Year” award in 1999, Anderson still puts out street parts to this day and continues to inspire a new generation of skateboarders.
