5,927 pounds is a lot of debris. Now imagine if all that debris had continued to sit in San Diego’s various waterways.
Last year, H2O Trash Patrol collected that exact amount of debris from San Diego’s unreachable waterways--and they did so on SUPs. Founded by wife and husband, Patti and Lorenzo Diaz, H2O Trash Patrol is taking the marine debris removal game to a whole ‘nother level.
Rather than just sitting tight and letting someone else do it, H20 Trash Patrol is doing all they can to help in places where others can’t. They run educational programs, marine eco-science camps for kids, and coordinate frequent debris collections excursions in San Diego’s various hidden waterways.
If you want to get involved (which you should), there’s a San Luis Rey River & Trails clean-up this Saturday March 5th. If you can’t make it, do your duty and pick up some trash whenever you can--every little bit helps. And learn more about H2O Trash Patrol on their website here.
