The 2018 Mini Major is just about one week away!  We are getting pumped and know that you are finalizing your plans to attend.  We hope this post will give you the added info you are looking for to make it a great year at the biggest Mini only race of the year! Please read through the entire post carefully.

Since last year Milestone MX has invested a lot of money in their equipment.  A new tractor and vertical power harrow has the dirt on the track the best it has ever been!  The loam is great and will make it soft enough that mini’s will have no problem making some ruts.  This event is always unique because there are no big bikes.

Mini’s only also can create unique challenges with course design and over the years we have listened to our racers and Milestone MX along with input from TWMX and Nick Wey have laid out a awesome track for this year that will be more “busy” and less wide open.  The cornering skills will stand out this year for sure!  Milestone MX released this preliminary drawing last week of what the layout will be.  We have also heard Milestone is making some investments on additional viewing areas for the public and mechanics that will be a big undertaking but a great benefit to our racers and fans.  No spectators will be allowed on the track. Also no prep (farming) past the start gate.

Wednesday Oct. 24th:

Gates open at 8am – 8pm.  Pull in for the weekend and set up your spot.  Fees for the entire event will be $70 per RV.  We will have portable service that will pump trailers rounding the lot in the mornings starting Friday.  You will also be sold wristbands for the event at $40 per person (5 years old and younger are free).  There is no additional fee for practice on Thursday which runs from noon to 4:30.  There is no practice on the Mini Major track Wednesday, but the Pro SX and Am SX will be open.  Pulling in early does not mean you get to pick your favorite spot.  RV’s will be parked in order of arrival to maximize the space of the parking lot.  Early arrivals will still get the best spots.  If you wish to park with a group, arrive at the same time.  No saving spots.

Thursday Oct. 25th:

Gates open at 8am and close at 8pm.  RV arrivals drop to $55 for the weekend.  Wristbands for all are $40 for the entire weekend.  No single day passes will be sold in advance.  If family wants to come for just one day to watch Sunday will be the cheapest as we drop prices $10 for new wrist bands each day.   Practice will be split groups by bike size and skill levels.  Everyone rides the same track.  Practice will run from 12:00 – 4:30.

  1. 12:00 – 12:10 Supermini / 85 Age Group

2. 12:10 – 12:20 85 Novice / Beginner

3. 12:20 – 12:30 PeeWee PW / XR / TTR

4. 12:30 – 12:40 65 Age Group

6. 12:50 – 1:00 PeeWee Age Group

7. 1:00 – 1:10 PeeWee Novice / Beginner

We will run through this schedule three times.  With water breaks for the track we suspect we will wrap up practice at 4:30.  Riders caught in the wrong practice will lose their gate pick in moto 1.  Arrive in plenty of time to set up camp, get geared up and don’t miss any practice sessions.  Thursday is the only formal practice day.  We will have sight laps after each moto ending in the number 9 of the day.  These sight lap breaks will be for the next 10 classes to get a look at the track.

Friday Oct. 26th, Saturday Oct 27th, Sunday Oct. 28th:

Each of these days will have an identical schedule.  We will race through one set of moto’s each day.  Gates to the track open at 6am and close at 9pm.  There will be no in and out traffic after 9pm.  First 10 motos will get a sight lap promptly at 8am, national anthem then we will begin racing.

Friday night IRC Tire is hosting a “Run What You Brung” hillclimb event!  This will happen under the lights and we will have prizes for different classes.  Your run up the hill will be timed and it’s free to enter.

Saturday night the Kawasaki Serpentine challenge returns for a second year!  Kawasaki provides bikes for this fun event to prove who has the best corner skills.  Last years winner ended up on the cover and in the magazine with tons of pics!  This event is also free to participate in and the trophy is a custom made one of a kind piece that you will keep forever!

There are classes for everyone and we cater to first time racers and top amateurs.  Top 5 riders in every class get a trophy!  The coverage and media that Transworld Motocross magazine brings to this event is second to none!  We will have live timing accessible on smart phones and online and there will also be a live webcast on our TWMX website and Facebook page for you to follow in all the action of Sunday’s motos and championship podium interviews.  This event is a great way to warm up for what you may expect on the national circuit and we make every effort to keep the costs down.  We look forward to seeing you next week at the 2018 Mini Major presented by SEVEN!
