A few weeks back we caught an early look at the all-new goggles from SPY Optic. Developed by Jeremy McGrath, Cole Seely, and Axell Hodges and dubbed the “Foundation” and “Foundation +” the new pieces put the iconic SoCal eyewear brand in the forefront of goggle technology. We all know that the latest trend in goggle design is to use a larger lens for improved sightlines while retaining it inside the frame with certain security, two things that SPY has checked off with the Foundation line without breaking the bank. SPY states the new High Definition Lexan lens used in the Foundation offers the widest peripheral vision range of any goggle on the market, which in turns offers incredible clarity when looking out onto the track. If a clear lens just doesn’t cut it for you, the Foundation + will come with a bonus Spectra lens to cut down on the harsh light. Did you somehow get stuck behind a rider and have your vision compromised by roost? Every box will come with a pack of standard tear offs, with an option of laminated tear offs to help in race condition and a massive 45mm roll-off system to combat those muddy motos.

But the lens isn’t the only important feature of the Foundation, as the frame it’s secured inside has plenty of talking points. The rider’s face is hugged by Triple-layer Isotron face foam that is has a final layer of moisture-wicking Dri-Force fleece to wick sweat away from dripping into the eyeballs. But sweat shouldn’t be much of an issue, thanks to the RISE ventilation system, which uses suction to pull heat that gets trapped between the rider’s face and goggle up and out of the frame. A 45mm woven fabric strap is kept in place on the helmet by silicone backing stripes and stays securely placed against the rider’s face via forces applied to the outriggers that are attached to the frame.

The initial launch of the Foundation and Foundation + will come in four colors, including a Jeremy McGrath signature style that reflects the legacy of the King of Supercross, and is now available at retailers.
