SE Bikes is by far one of the most iconic brands in all of BMX. No matter where your bike takes you, or what you ride, the brand SE resonates with us all. The entire line up of bikes has been pretty wild over the years, and SE brand manager/former Pro BMXer Todd “Wildman” Lyons continues to outdo himself each and every year.
Unfortunately, while the stellar rides such as the Big Ripper, Fat Ripper, and OM-Duro mountain crushing monster have made waves around the world, the SE race line has fallen off the back. When compared to the industry, the race frames just didn’t quite stack up to the best of the best. That is the case no longer as the all new line is game-changer for the SE brand.
Welcome the all new and completely redesigned SE PK Ripper Super Elite!
While keeping the classic SE graphic design and the iconic wings wrapping the head tube, the high polished Super Elite is one fine looking race ready frame. You are going to be hard-pressed to find a better frame for the price. With retail for the frame at $319, you have plenty of cash left over to match it up with solid components.
Some of the features include an all new tapered headtube, PF30 bottom bracket, built in seat post clamp, and 20mm dropouts. These features are going to be available on the Pro, XL, and XXL 20″ size frames. Need a track ready bike to load into the gate with? SE has you covered there as well.
For $849 you can get the complete bike built with the Pro or XL frame. It will come equipped with an all-new Landing Gear fork with tapered legs and steer tube, plus 20mm closed dropouts. It also comes spec’d with a pivotal seat and Promax braking system. Helping this budget track smasher roll along is an Alienation Deviant front wheel and Alienation Black Sheep rear surrounded by Tioga PowerBlock rubber and laced with sealed bearing alloy hubs.
To cap off the complete bike, SE finished it off and was able to keep the weight under 21 pounds. With a few tweaks you can easily shed a few lbs and have an even more capable bike of putting you on the podium.
Todd Lyons and SE have definitely brought a superb offering to their affordable race line. While there have been some slight price increases, the new SE PK Ripper Elite is worth every penny. This is especially true for that racer seeking to get a budget friendly ride that will perform as well as the mid-level to higher end race frames. Which is exactly why SE put an emphasis on packing this new frame with so many rad features.
You can expect to see the first wave of PK Ripper Elites to hit shops this month. If you would like to check out the complete SE offering and learn more, hit www.sebikes.com.
