odyssey-jcpc

odyssey-org_jcpc

Company: Odyssey
Pedals: JCPC
MSRP: $34.99 (replaceable bodies: $6.99)
Body Material and Style: Proprietary Plastic Composite. “Sandwich style”
Spindle: Oversized heat-treated 4130. 17mm wrench flats/6mm Allen
Bearings: None Pins: 16 (8 on each side) removable/replaceable metal pins and lock nuts
Colors: All black, all white, half/half, limited edition colors (Orange out now)
Weight: 8.4oz each

Other Info & Details: The best of metal petals and plastic pedals combined. Great grip and longevity mixed with lightweight and grind-ability. Replaceable bodies so you don’t have to buy a new set of pedals when you grind away the body. Replaceable pins and nuts that let you run grip on both sides, or grip on one, grind on the other. The pins also easily allow you to adjust the tension on the spindle to set how much they spin.

What were your goals when designing this product?
The most expensive and durable part of a pedal is the spindle and the bearing. If you are grinding away bodies, every time you replace a pedal, you are usually wasting a good spindle and bearing. The JCPC addresses this by making the bodies easily replaceable and affordable. Eliminating the bearing saves cost and lets us make the spindle oversized in the area you need the most strength. In addition to making the body replaceable, the JCPC spindle will last a lot longer than traditional spindles that are smaller in diameter.

Why are your pedals better than others, or what makes them different from others on the market?
No other pedal on the market is constructed anything like this, so it is different from every pedal in this way. The JCPC may be the most affordable pedal on the market, considering the low cost of replacing bodies and how long these pedals will last. JCPC’s have the grind-ability of plastic pedals, grip of metal pedal, and strength superior to both. -Jim Bauer, Odyssey
