If you’re at all familiar with WeThePeople, then you already know that they’re a brand that marches to their own tune. Their designs, image, ideas, and execution—they just do things a little different and bring cool things to the table again and again. I don’t pride myself on being extremely well-versed in all the latest BMX frame technologies and manufacturing practices. But to me, WTP appear be ahead of the curve with a lot of their frame features, and the Scorpio is no different.

Know Your Roll - WeThePeople Scorpio

The hydro-formed top and down tube gussets are a prime example of Wethepeople’s unique frame features. According to WTP’s Product Developer, Dave Paterson, the hydro-formed gussets “provide a greater surface area for welding, which in turn makes for a stronger join—without adding too much weight.” Added strength while keeping the weight down is always a priority. As for the look of the hydro-formed gusset, well, it’s certainly a departure from the norm. I’m sure some riders will love, while some will scorn. But hey, that’s freestyle, right?
