Growing up in San Diego, I have many short stories about Dave Voelker. From asking him how he goes so high as a little kid (the answer was simply “110 psi”) to chasing him down Texas St in my first car as he manualed at 50mph. Dave is truly a living legend in every way and when you shake this man’s hand, you can feel well-worn hand of a lifetime BMXer. Unfortunately, after shattering his patella two years ago, his medical insurance has capped out, and he’s struggling to support his family. I’ve stated my displeasure for crowd funding several times, but there are certain exceptions to every rule. Dave has given more to BMX than most everyone and I wish that legend status in BMX came with a lifetime check, but it doesn’t. Let’s spare a few bucks…
