Jelani checks out a visitor’s cell-phone photo in this video screen grab.

A gorilla at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky appears to have developed a habit shared by millions of people around the world: The easygoing primate just loves to scroll through cell-phone photos.

Jelani, a male Western lowland gorilla, was videotaped recently enjoying photos with a young man who was leaning against the glass, sharing his camera roll with the curious critter.

The gorilla appears to be genuinely interested and, at times, seems to be gesturing for his new friend to scroll to the next photo.

Apparently, Jelani has been entertained in this manner before. This particular video, however, has been a colossal hit on the Internet, garnering more than 700,000 views since being uploaded to YouTube on Sunday.

There are no cell phones where Jelani comes from, of course. Western lowland gorillas, an endangered species, are found in west central Africa, in the rainforest between the Congo and Niger rivers.
