Fire broke out on two vessels at the Abu Dhabi Marina Yacht Club on Monday and quickly spread to six other luxury boats, destroying them all as flames lit up the pre-dawn skies.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates, was on the scene supervising the emergency procedures and firefighting operations, according to Khaleej Times and Emirates 24/7 News.

According to the Associated Press and Arabian Business, nine separate firefighting teams responded to the blaze and managed to stop the flames from spreading to 211 boats and 23 Jet Skis nearby.

Major General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqui, the general commander of civil defense at the Ministry of Interior, called upon yacht owners to abide by public-safety rules to avoid such incidents in the future.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“The blaze was reminiscent of a large fire that broke out in July among three cargo vessels docked alongside the main waterway in the center of neighboring Dubai,” the Associated Press reported.
