In a world of increasing technology, almost everything is open to the use of new devices. And in important civil departments like fire fighting, getting an edge with a new device can mean the difference between life and death.

Knowing this, Dubai’s Civil Defense has begun testing the use of jet packs by firefighters to create what they are calling “floating fire stations”.

Their system is dubbed “dolphin” and involves a two-man team working with a jet ski and water-powered jet pack.

While jet packs are mostly associated with vacation bucket list undertakings, using them with a jet ski could give firefighters an edge in the right conditions. According to CNN, the the Director General of Dubai Civil Defense says the system could cut down on response time when road traffic is heavy.
