Coconuts Bali reported that a fire broke out in Uluwatu on Monday afternoon. The cause was unknown at first, but earlier on Tuesday, they reported that sparks from a welding project are believed to be the cause of the blaze.

The fire was understood to have originated somewhere near Ulu Cliff and spread to Bluepoint in Labuansait in Bali's Bukit Peninsula just up from the island’s famous Uluwatu surf break.

Badung Fire Department Chief I Wayan Wirya confirmed with reports on Tuesday that the welding was being conducted on the second floor of the Ocean One wedding building project.

Thankfully, there were no fatalities but 14 villas were destroyed and together the damage totaled to an estimated $275,500.
