Olympic Gold Medalist Red Gerard Appears on Jimmy Kimmel in Hilarious Interview

The 17-year-old will return to PyeongChang to compete in the Big Air event.

Have you become enamored with 17-year-old snowboarder Red Gerard yet? The easy-going teenager won the first gold medal for Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang when he took out the Snowboard Slopestyle event over the weekend.

He’s got a relaxed attitude that is hard to dislike, and this approach is exactly what helped him perform at the top of his game on snowboarding’s biggest stage.

Gerard has flown back to the U.S. for a round of talk show interviews before heading back to PyeongChang later this week to compete in the Big Air event. And last night he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live for a hilarious interview.

Gerard tells how he traveled with 18 of his family members to the Olympics, most of whom have spent their time there partying. While he’s back in the States, they remained in PyeongChang to keep the celebration going.

He also tells the story of how he woke up late on the morning of the Slopestyle final and couldn’t find his jacket, having to wearing a friend’s much larger jacket during the event.

Gerard is certainly a character who will likely be at the forefront of snowboarding for many years to come.
