Summertime is rolling around quickly, and with it some of the biggest gatherings in music in some of our favorite outdoor places. Festival season is always a calendar highlight, but going into these multi-day music marathons unprepared can turn ugly real quick. To keep the good times rolling well past the opening act, here are some of our festival gear essentials for 2018.

Outdoor Tech Kodiak Mini 2.0 Power Bank ($25)

All the power you need from the comfort of your pocket, the Outdoor Tech Kodiak Mini 2.0 provides the necessary boost need when phone batteries are running low. Adding 2600 mAh of charging power, the Kodiak Mini 2.0 keeps you up and running, and is even fully waterproof if things get crazy poolside.

Platypus DuoLock Softbottle ($12)

Convenient hydration comes in one shape. Photo: Courtesy of Platypus.

When it comes to long festival days, hydration is key, but lugging around a massive plastic water bottle is not exactly conducive to getting loose in a crowd. That's where the Platypus DuoLock Softbottle comes in – a flexible, soft water bottle with a double-locking cap to prevent spillage and a hip clip for throwing on your pack or belt loop. Better still, when the bottle is empty, it packs down virtually flat, making it an easy (and necessary) carry-with accessory. The bottle comes in three sizes: .75, 1, and 2 liters.

Mission HydroActive Fitness Half Multi-Cool Neck Gaiter ($18)

Okay, this might seem like a weird one, but high capacity crowds in the middle of summer get hot, and the Mission HydroActive Neck Gaiter is one of the best ways to keep things cool all day long. Targeting the quick-cooling zone of your neck, the gaiter features HydroActive technology that activates when wet, providing heat relief for up to two hours (then, of course, you wet again). The Neck Gaiter can also be worn as a bandana or headband and features UPF 50 to protect against the summer festival sun.

Epic Wipes ($25 for 10-pack)

After sweating it out front row or crushing that muddy conga line slip and slide, hit the reset button with Epic Wipes, the large-scale wipe built to wipe away festival grime, and keep you fresh heading into the next day. Sixteen times the size of your standard wet wipe, the Epic Wipes pack down to fit in the top pouch of your pack, and are 100-percent biodegradable (made primarily from bamboo fiber). Reduce your footprint and look better doing it. Not a bad deal.

Smartwool Men's Merino 150 Boxer Brief ($48)

Staying comfy and dry is the key to a long festival run, and that starts from the bottom up. The Smartwool Men's Merino 150 Boxer Brief is made from Smartwool's Merino 150 material, a breathable and lightweight merino wool that moves moisture away from the skin and keeps odors to a minimum. Originally utilized by sailors spending months at sea, merino has come back around in action sports circles as the best fiber for multi-day use, and have proven more than worthy for multi-day music festivals. Smartwool doesn’t reserve the merino for just the guys: they offer a women’s line of base layers as well.
