One of our favorite things about fall (apart from the cooler nights and changing leaves and feeling of invigoration in the air) is all of the new gear that hits the shelves. Summertime is all about shedding layers – it’s too hot to think of wear anything with sleeves, let alone baselayers and midlayers and beanies, and so on.

Fall is when all of that starts to change. Sweaters look appealing once again, long pants seem necessary, and putting on a real pair of shoes makes sense.

So, in preparation for one of our favorite seasons, we decided that it was about time to gather up one of our favorite fall staples: boots.

Here are six of the best fall boots for 2018.

There are boots that last a season or two, and then there are boots that last a lifetime. The Red Wing Heritage Rover Boot falls into the latter category. Originally debuted in 1952 and crafted for comfort ever since, the 2018 Rover sees design details like oil-tanned leather from Red Wing, Minnesota, that is water, stain and perspiration-resistant, as well as welt construction that allows for resoling. Take care of these boots properly, and they’ll last you for decades to come.

Original Chippewa Huckberry x Chippewa – 6″ Service Boot ($280)

No break-in period? Music to our ears. The Original Chippewa is an American-made collaboration between Huckberry and Chippewa, and among its features is a resoleable Goodyear welt and durable Vibram sole. The boot is a limited-edition run, so if you’re drooling over it now, we suggest picking up a pair before they run out.

Forsake Range Low ($140)
