Looking for a tide watch that prioritizes functions over frills?

For someone who constantly needs to know what the tide’s doing at their local spot (or wherever you might be visiting), the Nixon Base Tide watch ($100) is the perfect solution to stay one step ahead of your next wave.

With a very simple interface and a variety of color options, the Base Tide satisfied two of my critical requirements right out of the gate: user-friendliness and, of course, style.

Another huge plus is the price point. The Base Tide is priced right at $100, which places right on that fine line of affordability without compromising quality.

The watch is light enough that you might forget you’re wearing it. The wristband adjustment has enough options to fit larger and smaller wrists. The silicone band is soft and comfortable in and out of the water. It didn’t chafe or rub at all, thanks in part to the patented locking looper, which prevents the band from sliding around on your wrist by securing the strap and loop.

The Base Tide comes with four convenient modes: Time, Tide, Chronograph, and Timer. After a few minutes exploring all of the options available, the watch was a breeze to navigate. The home screen can be set to either include time and date, or time and tide — whatever’s most important to you.

The biggest draw for me was the simplicity of the screen. It’s refreshingly easy to read on all modes, and Nixon even perfected underwater readability using a negative LCD display.

The Base Tide is water resistant up to 300 meters, making it more than sufficient for swimming, surfing, snorkeling, spearfishing and more.
